Thursday  April 26, 2012
We got up early for reasons only known to Jim.  I should say he got up and I stayed curled up between the pillows.  Eventually I got up and we went out for the morning walk.  Holy be-gebbers, there’s something falling on my head.  Jim said we had to hurry because it’s raining out.  OK, if that stuff falling is rain, I don’t like it.  I kept having to shake myself off.  It was kina  fun when I found the brown mushy stuff.  It’s fun to walk in.  I think it’s mud because Jim kept saying “Oden, get out of the mud”
The rest of the day was spent shredding a magazine while Jim was gone.  That was more fun than anything.  When Jim came in all he said was a thousand pieces, while he was shaking his head.  I guess I did well.
Friday April 27, 2012
It’s now 730 pm and I’m telling you, what a day, what a day, what a day.  I had more new stuff happen than anything I can remember.  Loud cars, lots of people, outside all day, stuff to roll in, a really long walk, my nose down a hole.  More hands petting me than I can remember.  Details below.  I think tomorrow because I’m really tired.
We got up at 0 dark thirty, again I need to clarify, Jim got up and I staid in bed until I felt like it and then we went out for our morning walk.  There were houses everywhere.  I looked down and they were covering every inch of space below us, as far as my eyes could see. (note I’m about 6” off the ground so I don’t see really far).
Jim got ready and we went to the paddock gate. I staid in the truck and Jim got out and was talking to a lot of people.  He finally go me out of the car and put up a chair for my shade he said and attached me to a cooler. ( I only know those words because that’s what he called them.)  Cars kept coming by and I heard my name a bunch.  Then all of a sudden the world got really loud.  I looked out on the race track and there were a bunch of cars going by.  Oh well I decided I just laid down.
It seemed all day some one came by, said my name and scratched my head and said what a cute dog I was.  I really liked everyone petting me.  It started wearing me out so I laid down to rest as often as possible.
About some time during the day Ardelle, my friend, came by and asked Jim if I could go on a walk with her and Windy, my friend.  (those aren’t my only friends around, every one is.  One of these days I’ll tell you about all of them. I even have one person, Jean who said she would be my nanny. So now I have a nanny and a lot of dog setters.)  What the heck was I talking about?  Oh yea the walk.  We started off up a hill and I was as excited and one dog can get.  Well we walked and walked and walked and walked and I finally had to try to convince one of them the pick me up and I worked Ardelle broke first and I got carried for a while.  Then back down and more walking,  I was have fun, run, walk, bounce, run, walk, bounce.  Soon we were back were Jim was.  I said good by, drank a bunch of water and laid down in the shade.  Whoo eee, I was tired.  After a nap ay was woke up by some one calling my name and wanting to pet me some more.  How can a day get any better, HOW?
It just got better.  I went up the hill from where I was and found a hole.  What is so good about a hole, it smelled like something.  I did the only dogly thing to do, dug a little and stuck my nose down in as far as I could, it smelled great.  I don’t know what is was but I’m pretty sure I was suppose to dig some more so out I came, before my paws could get to work Jim said, Oden get out of that squirrel hole.  Being the good dog I am I got out.  I will find another one someday and try it again.
I was out where Jim was and I found this really stinky stuff.  It smelled great, no really great.  I knew this would be a perfect cover for when I go hunting.  No one would ever suspect Oden was stalking them because I would smell like s@#$.  Just when I started to roll in it I heard No Oden.  Again being a good dog I stopped.  Again I’ll find something like that and I will get to roll in it.
Saturday
More of the same people stopped to pet me, talk to me and ignore Jim.  I’m sure one person came up and said to Jim, hi chopped liver where’s Oden.  I heard people saying all day where’s Oden,  I was tired but had a great time Saturday and Sunday at the track.
I almost got to roll in that stuff again.

Monday
I got up this morning, its a good thing and not very far for me.  First thing Jim and I did was go outside and I did my business.  Jim always has me come over to him and tells me, “Good boy Oden.”  If I’m a good dog for doing what comes naturally I’ll continues to do it outside and take those pets.  I really can’t get enough pets and scratching.  It just feels good.
Jim turned that tall thing that goes back and forth on again today.  He calls it a heater, I call it, well it’s mixed company so I can’t say what I call it.  I don’t like it so I have to run fast to get by it.
Jim put me on his face book page and had a few comments back.  The one I liked the best was Lee’s.  She said I was smart for pup.  I’m glad I’m smart, what ever that means, I guess its a good thing.
I learned a few new things today.  When Jim says WALK, it means I get to go outside and make Jim go where ever I want;  sniff everything I can, eat a few leaves and go potty if I feel like it. I get to run and have fun.  Jim said every time I put my ears up I loose 1mile an hour.  I sure hope I can find it some where.  I know loosing something isn’t good because I was lost for a while.  I like being outside as long as Jim is close by.
I don’t think I’ve said any thing about how I got to the shelter.  Well let me tell you everything.  I got there in a truck, thats all I know.
If you think I keep changing what I talk about, I do, I’m a puppy and thats what puppies do, something different without warning.  (wow there’s a word I didn’t know I knew, warning)  I don’t give warning.  Jim can be sitting on the couch and suddenly I’m up and looking at him nose to nose.  It makes him jump so it’s fun.
Back to new things.  I like to pick up sticks.  When I did it today, Jim called me to him and then said let go, so I did, and then he threw it and I went and got it.  We did that a bunch of times, it was really fun.
I also decided treats when you come in from a walk are ok so I had to sit and beg from Jim until he finally got it.  Now I get a treat everytime I come in.  That Jim is sure easy to train.
Tuesday April 23
Woke up this morning feelin’ fine, had somethin’ special on my mind, that sounds familiar.  Jim and I slept in.  I had a great nights sleep, I spent most of it on Jim’s head, his hair is pretty soft and warm.  We went for our morning walk and I took my time doing what I had to do.  In the morning and after dark, we always come in when I’m done.  Jim just thinks I’m sniffing everything to find the exact, exact spot, but I’m just not in a hurry to go in.  I’m here to tell you he is easy to get to do what I want.  Who’s in charge here, that would be me, Oden, but Jim thinks he is.  If I could get to my food, and I am working on that, (shh, shh, shh, don’t tell Jim), I would be in total charge.
Wednesday April 25, 2012
Wow what  day.  I had a great time and got in trouble this evening.
This morning this strange noise woke me up.  It was some kind of buzzing.  Jim reached over and did something and it quit.  A little while later it started making noise again. Jim turned it off and am I glad.  You know I’m a growing boy and need my sleep. Jim got up and did what he does, I stayed in bed for a while, growing remember, and finally got up about 3 hours later, (insert from Jim, about 5 minutes).  Jim and I went out for our walk where I did everything I needed to.
Jim got dressed and took me out side and opened the truck door.  My first thought was oh my stomach, but I tried to jump into the truck.  I wasn’t even close so Jim lifted me in.  We went down to some where called the paddock,  That’s a work that I really don’t have in my limited vocabulary, however I figured it out.  It’s where you go to get a lot of people at a morning meeting, again a new word and they eat muffins and pet me and drop scraps on the floor for me to get.  Someone said I was a vacuum.  I’m pretty sure I’m a dog though.
After I clean stuff off the floor Jim and I went back to the trailer for something.  When we went back out Jim headed for the truck so I figured I would teach him something.  I sat down and would not move toward the truck.  He’ll have to come back and stay in the trailer with me.
Oops I’m in the trailer and Jim drove away.  That didn’t quite work out the way I had planned.  Sometimes it’s not so easy to train that hard head.
About 500 hours, (or 3 hours), Jim came back and I got to ride in the truck.  It was a nice ride.  I didn’t get sick.  We went to turn 5 where I got to get out and walk around.  Then Jim put me in the truck while motorcycles went by.  They wren’t too loud so I slept.
In a little while Jim took me out for a walk and I found a long yellow looking thing, Jim called it a french fry.  I put in in my mouth and tried to eat it but could’t because it was sticking out the front of my mouth and I could’t chew it.  Jim took it away from me, jus pulled it straight out of my mouth.  Back in the truck again.  Sleep again.  Awake time for  another walk.  I acted like I was just walking and not caring, then shot over and grabbed a french fry and tried to eat it, again pulled from my grasp.  I’m really going to have to figure how to eat those thing and eat them fast.
Uh oh the truck is making noise again.  Around the track.  Good we stopped and I feel ok.  Driving again.  Ok, ok, ok, stopped but my stomach doesn’t,  Jim got me out and I threw up.  Darn, I’m really trying, honest.
Back to the trailer.  I should’t call it a trailer, Jim said it is our home.  He said it was a trailer before he brought me to it and now it is our home no matter where we are.
We went of walk and I did part of my business.  I knew if I did it all I would go in our home.  Oh well that didn’t work, in we went.  In a little while I really had to go outside so I went to the door and looked at it.  Jim got all excited and we went out for a walk.  That was really easy, I didn’t have to run back and forth and jump on Jim.
After that we went in.  Jim fixed his dinner, a couple of hot dogs he said.  He sat down to eat and I kept bothering him.  When he looked away for a second I reached out and grabbed one of the hot dogs.  Wooo buddy, I should not have done that.  Jim got made and touched my nose and said no in a loud voice and took away the hot dog, with cheese, I might add.  Well I won’t do that again, unless I think I won’t get caught.  Jim never got mad at me before.  After he threw that one away he came over and petted me and said good boy, but I’ll never take anything off his plate again.
Well it’s 8 and I am a growing boy, have I said that before so off to bed.

oops I goofed but I don't think it's my fault; at 8 months I'm not supposed to be able to spell, besides, I'm a dog.  I misspelled my friend Dullee's name.  That is the correct spelling.  I think Jim told me how to do it.
Sorry Dullee.

My new home

My Mug Shot
The first thing you should know about me, Oden is I am a Terrier/corgi mix.  I first met Jim at the Monterey County Animal Shelter on Tuesday April 3, 2012.  I saw him walking down the kennels toward me so I put on my best face and jumped on the cage hoping he would see me. IT WORKED, Jim bent down and petted me, talked to me.  I’ll never forget his words, wa, wa wa we, then he left.  I think he went to see if he could take me for a walk.  Jim came back and said to me, and I understood, I can’t walk you now but I’ll be back on Friday, (what ever that is) and left.  Darn I don’t like this place I wish someone would take me home.   They are nice, but i jut don't like it here

On Friday April 6, 2012 I went back to the shelter and was able to take Oden for a walk.  When I went in his pen to put a leash on him he took two steps back and then came running toward me and jumped up on my knee.  I put a leash on him and he wasn’t very happy.  I pick him up and he climbed up on my shoulder and put his head down on it.  I knew I had again been outsmarted by a dog.  Outside he walked ok on the leash, but kept forgetting it has a short end.  In the play yard he got down and ran around.  When I called him he would run over to me and jump to be picked up.
I told the ladies at the shelter I wanted to adopt Oden but would be out of town for 7 days.  They said they could not hold him.  I asked it they knew someplace that would board him.  They suggested Harden Ranch Vet.  I went to the vet and they said they would board him and would make arrangements to pick him up the next Tuesday when he was neutered.  I went back to the Animal Shelter and adopted him.  Oden was going to be neutered the next Tuesday and taken to the vets for boarding.  My gosh after 19 months I’m going to have another dog with me.
Hey that guy came back on Friday and took me for a walk.  I did my best to impress him.  I climbed up on his shoulder and put my head down.  He took me out for a walk and I did the best I could  but that thing around my neck was not comfortable.  We went to the play yard and I got that thing off my neck and I was able to run for the first time in forever, (a week).  When he called me, Oden?, I’m not sure what he ment but I went running to him and he seemed to be happy about it.  We went back in and I was back in my cage.  What do I have to do to get out of this place?
What seemed like seconds that Jim guy was back.  He came into my cage and picked me up and hugged me and said not to worry, soon I would be going home with him.  Did  he say home?  Does that mean I’m getting out of this place?  He gave me a hug and said I’ll see you in 10 days.
Tuesday April 17, 2012 , some one came in to get me and said, “Oden, it’s Tuesday”.  I don’t know what that means but I got out of my cage.   Ooooooooooh something hurts.  I’m just going to lie still and do nothing.  They keep talking about neutered, again one of those things I don’t  know but when ever I hear that again I’m going to run, as soon as I can!
Another night in the cage place.  I should say although they lock you up they are all very nice here.  They give me scratches and pets when ever they can.
Hey some one has gotten me and it looks like I’m going for a truck ride, yahoo.
I’m at some place called Harden ranch Veterinarian.  Back in a cage again but it’s different.  Its seemed like hours and then they came and got me and took me to the front and what did I see, that Jim guy I saw at the other place.  I really like him.  He held me and gave me a hug and said “Hi Oden”, (that might be my name so I’ll look at him when ever he says it).
Jim put  a collar on me and took me out to a rather large truck, there was no way I could jump in.  Oh he picked me up and put me in the truck.  He said I’m going home with him.  I’m a happy dog, I got a real home.

Jim is a full time RVer so our home is in a trailer.
I went with him to his home, at a car race track, where I met my new friend, Dooly.  Dooly’s parents are Gary and Betty .  I also saw a black thing they called a cat named Inky but he would never come up and say hi.
Wednesday April 18th
Jim and I got up about 6 and he took me for a walk.  Then went back inside.  Jim got ready to go and took me with him.  He said something about being a track dog so I had to learn about loud cars.  They were loud but not too bad.  I stayed in the car most of the day and Jim would come over and say hi.  Then I got to meet a bunch of people.
A couple of times we went for a ride on the track.  Mostly when we were driving I just laid down on my pad.  I keep wondering if I’m staying here or going somewhere.  I sure hope I’m staying.  I like Jim and he seems to like me.
Thursday
Jim and I went to  dog store today.  I didn’t do too well in the car.  I lost my breadfast.  Jim didn’t get mad he just scrached my head. I got to go in and walk around.  There are all kinds of treats on the ground.  We got some stuff and went home.  Jim put up this round thing with a nice bed in it so he and I can hang out outside.  I jumped around played with my toys and went to sleep.  When I want to walk I start sniffing around like I have to pee and Jim gets me out and we go for  walk.  I don’t really have to pee but it is easy to train this guy.

There is a lot of people here today, its the “Sea Otter Classic”, what ever that is.  Most of them are riding a bicycle. There was someone talking all day long and really loud.  They have a lot of last laps because I heard him say last lap, last lap, last lap, a bunch of times.
Friday
What he heck happened to Friday?
Saturday
We got up early today, something about a vet appointment.  I’m not sure what it is but I hope I don’t have to ride in the truck.  My stomach is not cooperating with me on that one.
It is the truck.  I’ll try, ooooooo, it didn’t work.  Oh well I’ll just lay down.

Later, Jim and I went to a BBQ, again a new one to me.  After being there for a while i figured out what a BBQ is.  It's a thing that humans do to cook a bunch of really good smelling food to tease the dogs.  It worked, i got nothing.  Jim said, "no table scraps for Oden".  I'll have to see if i can change that.
