October 17, 2012
Well it looks like Oden goofed again.  Thats from some song with my name inserted.  I had good things
happen and bad things happen.  Notice I said happen.  None of the bad things were my fault.  I, Oden just don't do bad things any more.  You remember the hearing aid thing, that was my last bad thing.

The other day when Jim was gone, I smelled something in his bed.  Being the good and faithful dog that I am I decided to investigate.  Using my front paws I moved a sheet then tore through the other sheet, mattress pad and what did I find, foam.  From  dogs prospective, foam is more fun than toy stuffing.  It was at this point that I forgot what I was looking for.  I started tearing it apart, paw down, teeth on the foam and pull.  I did this for hours and hours and hours.  It was great fun.  Then when I stopped I realized Jim was not going to be over joyed about this.
I was the cat
When he comes home I'll put my ears all the way back and wag my tail as best I can.  I guess I've used that before because when Jim came home and saw me he said, "what did you do Oden?"  I told him, although he couldn't understand, "the cat did it".   For any of you dogs out there reading this, ALWAYS blame it on the cat.  It works every time unless you don't have a cat.  My case, no cat.  Well I've been banished from the bedroom when Jim's not home.  Darn.

The good thing about this, He didn't stay mad very long.  A couple of jump up and put the head on the shoulder and he was back to normal.  I will however put this on my list of don't do any more.
1.  don't eat the hearing aids
2.  don't tear apart the foam pad on the bed.

Ok the good things.  I went to the Vet Monday to get my grooming done.  I did not through up in the truck there or on the way back.  Yahoo!!!!!  I felt a little odd but stuck it out.

In the afternoon I got to go out and hang out with a bunch of people from the office.  Once I even got to sit on someone's lap.  Some kind of video and I guess I'm in it.  I wonder if you get extra treats or pets for that?

Hey it's me again, twice on the same day.  I'll have to be carful not to get my paws tired putting all this in.  Actually every thing from this morning was cut and past.
Jim was at the track all day so I stayed home and tore up a few papers, slept, drank water, slept a little.  Oh my big accomplishment for the day was remove the squeaker from one of my toys.  That was really a good time.  When Jim comes home I try to surprise him by jumping from the floor right to his shoulder.  He has to catch me and then gives me big hugs and says what a good dog I am.  I don't do it every time because then it wouldn't be as much fun when I do it.
We were out on the deck and Jim was sitting in my favorite chair, the big brown one, so I jumped up on his lap and all of a sudden I smelled something I hadn't smelled in a while.  It was those things Jim keeps in his ears, and left by the bed for me to nibble on.  I sniffed both ears but then remembered how Jim looked when he found me enjoying them.  I decided to just leave them alone.

I don't think I said anything about Jim becoming a Grandpa in Late Jan. or Feb.  Brian, (he is the one on the left with his friend Sam), and Kirstin are going to have a baby boy.  I wonder if that makes me a grand dog.  Wait I already am a grand dog so I'm going to be a really grand dog.   I really don't know what all this grand stuff is but it sounds good being a grand dog!!
Some how last time I put something on here i left out a few days.  I think it was Jim who did something wrong.  Oh well here it is out of order.

July 30
Wow, holy be geberz, whoooooo hoooooo   What a time it’s been since I wrote something.  I’ve had great times, and not so great times in the last 12 days.

On Saturday the 21st Jim and I headed for Redding and Lassen Park.  I’ve never been to those places but they must be good because Jim is taking me.  I had a pretty good trip to Redding, Janes house.  I only lost food once.  We stopped at Sonic in Gilroy for some dinner, oh wait I should say Jim stopped, I’m still waiting for just a little bite but no not even a nibble.  I’m thinking next time Jim wants to share a bone I find, it’s not going to happen.

Let me tell you about Redding, hot, hot, hot, did I mention It’s hot there, 103.  We went to Janes house and I met my cousin Marley Davidson, Marley for short.  She is 3 hear old and really big.  We played any way.  On Sunday we went to Lassen Volcanic National Park to go camping.  That is a nice place, trees everywhere and much cooler than Redding.  We got there and got settled.  There was Jim’s sister Jane, his brother in law Bob and 4 of Janes grand kids that went up.  Elenore, William, Dora and ?

Last week another motor home moved in next to us which made me bark a lot  until I finally figured out it was the same people and they were ok.  Then there was this big fence that someone put up with green materal on it.  I could’t see past it but I guess that was ok.  Jim said he liked it.  At this point everything is just going along.  Jim and I were having a normal life.

Last Wednesday it started.  Sandy, who has been here before showed up with her daughter Elaina.  That was good because they both like me and gave me plenty of hugs and scratches.  Of course they are my friends.  Then over by my best friend Dulee’s house someone named Mindy parks her motorhome with her dogs Blondie and Nickie  So I had to meet them. Nickie is about the same age as me so we played whenever the humans would let us.  She was a little bigger than be but I’m a terrier so I held my own.  Then someone named Kevin also moved in by Dulee’s house.  This place is getting packed.  Two by Dulee and two by me. Thursday

It’s getting busy and noisy around here.  There are people everywhere and motorcycles everywhere.  Jim seems pretty busy doing a lot of nothing.  I decided not to bar at everyone that goes by because I might wear out my barker.  I don’t know how many barks I have in me so I’m saving some for later in life.  What am I saving them for I don’t even know what later in life is.

Friday
Friday was a good day and a really bad day for me, Oden.  The good part motorcycles were all over the track and they were really loud, but it didn’t bother me.  Jim came be and walked me a few times so mostly I slept.
Jim kept talking about a BBQ, every one knows what that is, right.  I’ll remind you.  It’s something humans do to cook meat and not give the dog any.  After a while Sandy came by and there was a lot going on then they all left for the bbq.  Here I was by my self while they feasted on beef, I got dog food.  I should say it is very good dog food, but dog food.  Every one came back after about 400 hours (2 hours) and there were more people.  Diego, Beth, Devin, and Christian Wood.  They were nice and as it turns out they gave me a lot of walks during the weekend.  Well everyone left except Sandy and Elaine.  They all talked for  while and then everyone went to their beds.

This is where Friday turns to the worst Friday ever.  Jim and I went to bed and when Jim put his head down I heard a loud squealing noise.  Jim said he forgot to take his hearing aids out.  He took them out and put them on the stand next to the bed.  I had two questions, what are hearing aids and are they eatable? As it turns out they are what Jim uses to hear me bark and yes, I reached over and grabbed them.  One I got down and the other Jim took out of  my mouth minus a few pieces.  Jim looked like he had just lost his best friend, that by the way would be me.  He just looked at me and said no, turned off the light and went to sleep.  Of all the things I’ve done, none really bad of course, I wish I could have resisted the late night snack.  Water under the bridge.  I know what water is.

Moto Gp came and went.  I got to sit out on the deck with lots of people and watch the race.  It was great fun but a little noisy.  People would get excited and unexcited.  Then it was over and everyone left.

August 7
I went to the vet the other day and had my fur washed, nails cut and other stuff.  They are always so nice there I don’t even mind going.  I do get a little nervous when Jim leaves me but he always comes back and gets me when they are done making me handsome.  Car ride almost ok?

Last Saturday I went to the sound booth and found my friend Eli there.  I haven’t seen him in a long time. I like Eli, he is one of the few dogs that is not as big as me. He is younger than me but I don’t think he’ll get much bigger.   We played for and hour straight, it was really a lot of fun.  I’m going to have to play with him more often.

August 9
Jim and I have been going over to Dulees to feed Inky.  Inky is a cat that lives at and around Dulee’s place.  I’ve seen him before but could never get too close.  He’s a a  bit of a nervous animal.  Since we’ve been feeding him I go over every morning and evening and we say hi, touch noses and and hang out a bit.  He is really a nice cat.  I should tell you they only reason I know he is a cat is because Jim told me.  I thought he was just a funny looking dog.
There are another animals running around here that I can’t chatch to say hi. Jim says they are squirrels.  There funny looking little things and aren't very friendly.

July 9
There are a bunch of tents going up around here.  Jim says a really big race is coming up.  It’s called Moto GP.  I’m excited, I don’t know why I’m excited other than it is an opportunity to get more scratches and pets.  More people more hands.  Jim says I’ll have to guard the place.  No problem, I’m the best guard ever. What the heck does guard mean?  I’ll do it as soon as I figure out what it is.

Jim got a new chair the other day and it is really comfortable.  I sit in it when ever I can.  Jim has to make me move so he can sit down so I just jump up on his lap.

July 13
And it’s Friday.  Jim told me to put that in here, I don’t know why but I always do what Jim asks me. (paws, eyes and ears crossed)

Jim is always asking me what’s up, Oden.  I have and answer to that, everything.  When your my height everything is up except the ground and the food bowl.  JI don’t know why he has to know what’s up, his ankles are up.

I went to another human obedience class last night.  Another TEST and I was not first again.  Sandy, the instructor held my leash and Jim went the other end of the room and called me.  When Sandy dropped the leash I’m supposed to run to Jim.  In whose world is that going to happen?  I sniffed a little, visited some friends and then ran to Jim.  He said at least this time a got some points.  We did it again but this time I had to go visit longer.  Jim came to me, and I didn’t even have to call him, with a treat in his hand and then I followed him back to where he started.  It was great fun.

We then learned to wait.  That is not the same as stay it is just a quick thing so Jim can get out the door or put on a leash.  I excelled on that one.  Perfect every time.

One slight not so good thing happened, I got sick in the truck.  I’m trying, I really am.

There still putting up more tents for the up coming big race, Moto Gp.  This place is just busy every day.  I have to give my low warning growl when ever anyone gets within 6 miles, (50 yards) of our home.  I think Jim appreciates it.  Its really low so it doesn’t seem to bother Jim.

Outside the trailer is a mess.  Jim says were getting a deck but I have to step over all kinds of stuff just to go do my business.  I’ll be glad to have that project done.

Jim says next weekend we are going to Lassen National Park.  Yeaaaaaa! A park.
He says we are going to plant some trees for Jim’s Dad and Mom.  Jim says they were volunteers at Summit Camp for 17 years.  That will be nice to have something to honor them.  I never met them but if they were Jim’s Dad and Mom they were nice people.  There can’t be any permanent  signs but temporary ones are ok.  I hope I get to help dig.

July 15
Ooops.  I think I made a couple of goofs.  I don’t do that very often but Jim got a little upset with me.  First the rug I decided to chew yesterday.  This morning I was leaning on Jim trying to get him to pick me up and I took one paw and slapped his arm with it.  He told me NO in a very stern voice.  Guess I won’t do that again

July 16
Last night something happened and I’m still not sure what or why.  Jim and I were playing with my favorite toy, having a great time.  Jim was playing tug with me and all of a sudden there was  crack/pop and something in my mouth hurt.  It scared the be jebers out of me.  There was a funny taste in my mouth also.  Jim kept looking in my mouth and finally said, Oden you lost your last puppy tooth.  I sure glad it was my last one because I don’t want to go through that again.  I just laid around for the rest of the night on Jim’s lap and on the bed.  I think I was more scared than hurt.  Jim talked to me alto and petted me.  It made me feel a lot better.

I woke up this morning and there was a big motorhome pulling in beside us.  I started barking to let Jim know it was there.  We got up, went outside and talked to Robert the who will be out neighbor for the next few months.

I’m a little confused.  I think when someone gets close, within 100 yard of home, I should bark to warn Jim.  He however has a different thought.  Jim seems to think right next door is the place to bark.  I’ve been a dog longer than Jim has so I think I know what a dog should do.  We are working on it but the two of us are pretty darn stubborn.

July 18
I’ve got a lot going on in my head.  Every time I turn around there is another something going by.  I can barley keep my mind on doing my business when I’m outside.  Jim keeps telling me it’s because of the race coming up.  I hope it calms down when that happens.
Yesterday Jim and I went to the shooting range.  We parked and got out and went over to a little tree.  I don’t know why but Jim seemed a little sad.  He told me to look where the deer had been nibbling at the branches but the tree looked like it was growing well.  Then we left.

When we got home, Jim was his normal self but seemed to give me an extra big hug.

September 12
Wow it’s been a long time since I wrote any thing.  Since the last time there have been motorcycle races, old car races and new car races.  I of course managed to get through all of them fine.  The worst part is during race weekend Jim is gone a lot.

What have I done during that time?  I slept a bunch and really tried to keep Jim from sleeping.  I constantly took the blanket off the couch.  One thing I learned that is really fun is to walk on the back of the couch.  I can really see a lot from up there.  That’s a trick my best friend Dulee  told me about.  He’s been doing that for a long time.  I haven’t mastered the art of sleeping up there yet, but Dulee says it’s a great place to sleep.

June 27
Yesterday I went for a walk with my friends Ardel and Wendy.  We went to Wolf Hill and what do you think I saw, antother dog laying in the grass.  He was really big and looked like he could use a bath, but he looked friendly to me.  If they would have let me I would have gone over and said hi.  Both Adel and Wendy said it was a coyote and went the other way.  I’m sure I could have made him my friend.
July 6
Wow I haven’t had anything to say for a while.  I guess I’ve just been too busy playing and sleeping and making Jim crazy.
Last week there was a test, yes a dreaded test, in human obedience school.  Jim went to one end of the room and said, “Oden, come”, then the teacher let go of the leash and I was suppose to go to Jim.  Well I’m telling you there were a lot of people and dogs to visit between the teacher and Jim so I visited them all.  Jim  kept saying come on Oden but I kept visiting.  When I ran out of people to visit I went to Jim.  Jim said I got 0 on the test, (an F would mean he got points), but I feel like I did the right thing, a dog can’t have too many friends.  We practice  and Jim keeps telling me it’s for my own good to come when he calls me.  I guess I’ll try to do that.
Betty, Dulee’s human made me and Dulee some really great scarves.  We have a yellow and blue one and a red one and a checkered one.  I really like wearing them.  Jim says jump Oden and you’ll be a waving flag.  What ever that is.
Yesterday Jim took me on a long car ride, 99 miles, in the truck.  I lost my stomach contents some where near the start and then I was ok the rest of the way and on the way back. I learned to just lay down and rest.  I may have this sick thing beat.  I’m really happy and so is Jim.

This is my friend Enzo.  I mentioned him in an earlier post.  When Jim is at the gate he comes to visit.  He is the same age as I am but a little bigger

June 2
Saturday, glorious Saturday, what a wonderful day of the week.  I have no idea why I think it is such a great day, it’s just another day of the week, which I know nothing about. A week a month a year, I don’t know what any of those things are.  If any one want’s to explain it to me feel free.
While Jim and I were walking around today I discovered what is living in the brush beside us.  You remember the thing that I scared off.  It’s a rabbit.  I know what a rabbit is because it, like me, is an animal and I’m supposed to chase it.  I saw it twice today but chasing was not what I wanted to do, I wanted to play.  The rabbit was not friendly because he wouldn’t come play.  I don’t understand a lot of things in the world.  I do understand the world, that is where Jim and I are.
I went to see my friends Gary, Betty and Dulee today.  Gary we sitting outside with someone so visited them.  They were eating and I actually got a chip from the other guy.
Jim picked me up but that is not what I wanted to do, I wanted to go back to that other guy to get another chip.  I wriggled and squirmed and, ohhhhhhhhh brother, no part of me is touching anything and I see the sky not ground, landing on my head and back.  Not a direct landing, but more like a roll.  I’m ok and got a chip.  I was pretty calm the rest of the day, because I forgot what caused the mid air flip but I’m being carful to not let it happen again.  Every thing upside down, including me,  is not what a dog wants to do.
June 4
I got woken woke?, I don’t know the exact proper word is, but early this morning by some kind of noise.  I even went and barked at it.  I never did figure what it was making noise.   Jim and I went out for our morning walk.  No sun just clouds and a little cold.  I did my duty and we went back in.  A couple of hours later I decided it was time to go out again and what do you think happened?  There was stuff falling on me again.  Jim keeps calling it rain, I call it scary stuff from the sky
June 11
Wow, it’s been a busy week.  Last Tuesday and Wednesday there were some really loud cars out on the track.  I had to stay home while Jim went to the track.  I really don’t think that is fair, why does he have all the fun.  Since I could’t go to the track I invented my own fun.  I spent 2 days taking apart one of my toys to inspect the inside.  I really had a great time and Jim got to clean it up.  I think that might be the most fun, I make a mess and don’t have to clean it up.  When Jim comes in he just shakes his head and starts picking it up.  He always does it with a smile.  I guess it’s ok to get that noise maker out of my toys.
Thursday morning some noise woke me up way too early again.  Jim said it was an alarm.  OK but I don’t like it.  Jim got up and we went as usual for our morning walk.  It isn’t really a walk its a Jim go out and try to stay awake and I go out and see how long I can keep him out.  The sleeper he is the longer I have to sniff the ground, pick up sticks and leaves.  Jim got dressed to go to the track so I put on my best take me face, (after all I’ve been home for two days), and it worked I got to go with him.  We worked the gate for SCCA.  I did that waaaay back when I first moved in with Jim and it is a lot of fun.  People come over and say hi, Oden, all the time, they scratch my head and talk to me, some even give me treats.  Thursday after noon my friends Ardel and Wendy came to take me on a walk.  We had a great time.  We walked 50 (2) miles in 4 (1) hours and I didn’t have to get picked up one time.  I tried but they kept saying I wasn’t fooling them. I was tired when we got back so I got to get in the truck and sleep for 10 (2) hours.  When I got up I heard people asking where’s Oden.  I got out of the truck and got some great scratches.
Friday we went and did the same thing.  Again I got to go on a long walk for a long time, (you know why I’m not putting numbers down, mr. Know it all will change them).  I met a new friend today.  His name is Enzo.  Enzo is the same age as me, 9 months, but much bigger, about 30 feet tall,  believe me even if Jim changes it he is 30 feet tall. (about 25 inches at the shoulder and 50 lbs.)  I walked right up to Enzo and began playing.  We had a great time.  I jumped on him then sometimes he would push me out of the way with his paw and I’d go flying only to get up and go back.  He is fun to play with.  If he got too rowdy I would wrap my leash around his back legs and that would slow him down.   Enzo came by the next two days and I got play time with him.  Not only playing with him was fun but I got to roll around in the dirt.
The next two day were pretty much the same.  I slept got up to say hi to people, who as you know came to see me not Jim.  Jim didn’t seem to mind.  He said it was good to see me having sooooo much fun.  I have that much fun every minute I’m awake and asleep.
Thursday June 14
Jim told me this morning we are going to a training class for you tonight Oden.  I’m excited a training class for me, yahoo.  I wonder what it is.  I know we got into the truck to take a ride, I did ok.  We got out at this place and what do you think I saw, about a thousand, (10) dogs wanting to be my friend.  There were little dogs and big dogs.  They were all friendly to me and of course I was friendly to them.  We went inside and a lady started talking.  I think I’ve seen her before at the shelter where I stayed for 20 years.  She is nice and I’m pretty sure she gives out treats.  Yep she finally gave me some treats after other dogs got theres.  I really think I was being good enough to get some first.  The truck ride home was fun.  My stomach didn’t get upset or any thing.  I just sat up on the arm rest and watched the world go by.
Monday June 18
Just another Monday, I woke up and went outside and did what dogs do outside.  Walk do business, sniff, walk, run, sniff, run, sniff, eat roots.
In the afternoon Jim and I went to the suites, (I don’t know why they call them that, they don’t seem sweet to me.  One of them was really messy so Jim cleaned it while I checked for anything on the floor.  When Jim went out the door he let me go with him without my leash.  I was going to go in the next door but decided to walk all the way down to the other end of the building.  There was something there to sniff so I was forced to it.  Jim kept calling me but my nose was busy.  I started to go down the steps when I head a firm “no” from Jim so I ran back to where he was and was instantly put on my leash.
After that we went to the office to see all my friends.  I really like going up there there are sooooo many people to see and get pets from.  When I got to Gill’s office she picked me up and said to Jim that she thought Oden should be off his leash in the office.  Great idea now I can go see who every I want with out any one telling me different.  After Gill finished petting and scratching me I ran to Ardels office to get more scratches from her.  Then out of nowhere a ball appeared.  It was great I got to chase it and then Chris came in and played with me and the ball.  It was a lot of fun.  I got to bring the ball home and play some more.
I like the ball but so far it has been impossible to chew all the way through and believe me I am trying.  I guess I’ll just have to chase it and have fun that way.

Friday May 25
We slept in until almost 8 am.  It’s cloudy out.  Last time it looked like that that rain stuff kept landing on me.  I hope it doesn’t happen again.  I’m having a great time playing.  Running around our home and every once in a while I make Jim take me outside.
When we come in Jim says shake and picks up my right paw, then scratches me and tells me I’m a good boy.  Might be something to that.  I think I’ll just put up my paw when he says shake and get bonus scratches.  A dog can’t have enough scratches, pets and praise.  I made him go out again and when we came in Jim said “Oden, shake”.  I put my paw up and he took it and then just scratched me and told me what a good boy I was.  Man I trained him pretty fast to give extra scratches.
Tuesday May 29
Last weekend was Memorial Day Weekend.  Lots of things happen on Memorial Day weekend, racing at Indy, picnics, BBQs, track activity, and most important, remembering  those who served our country and made it so I could write this.  Thanks to those Military people, past, present and future.
I got to go to the track on Sunday and Monday.  I hung out in Jim’s truck and slept or looked out at the cars.  Jim would come over and say hi and pet me when he had a chance, about every 10 hours.  I really had a good time.
Jim has been taking me for rides in the truck more lately and I’m doing pretty good.  Something I learned.  When Jim puts me the truck and then says scoot over, he wants me to get out of his seat, so I do.  I do it for two reasons, I don’t want to get sat on and I get scratches for it.  The last reason is the best.
May 30
Life is good for me, Oden.  I met a new friend the other day, Eli.  He belongs to Sandy.  He’s a friendly little guy.  I stress little, he is smaller than me and still a little shy.  He is also a lot younger.  My best friend Dulee just looks at both of us like were nuts when we got to playing too much
I am laughing so hard I can barely write this. In fact…………………….sorry I’m not laughing as hard now.  What made me laugh was something Jim said.  I was bugging him to go outside, you know the normal stuff, little squeaks and low barking and jumping on his knee.  Jim said just a moment Oden, you can wait.  Then he said, and this is what got me laughing so hard, “remember Oden, humans are always right”.  Now I ask is that the funniest thing you have ever heard.  I let Jim think he is right but come on I’m a cute cuddly dog, I’m always in charge.
June 1, 2012
Yaaaaaa, it’s national donut day.  I’m hoping Jim will give me one, (as soon as I figure out exactly what a donut is), because I think it is something I can eat.
Yesterday Jim brought home a new toy for me. (Probably because I ate the stuffing out of my other one.)  The new one makes two different sounds.  It’s nice to get something new sometimes.
Yesterday when Jim and I were walking I smelled something strange.  At first I jumped back, then I started following it.  I don’t know what it is but I kept my nose to the ground and followed it all around our home and down toward Dulee’s.  Jim asked what I smelled, “is it a raccoon Oden?”  I don’t know what a raccoon is but that is as good an explanation as any.  I don’t think I like this thing so I’ll keep an eye and a nose on it.
In the evening when Jim watches TV I like to lay on his chest and sleep.  It gets me ready for later in the night when I do laps in the trailer.  Some times I have to run right over Jim if he is in the lap path.  After laps it’s time to go outside and walk around.

Last night while I was allowing Jim to escort me around in the dark, I heard something and smelled something in the brush.  It scared the be gibers out of me.  I ran away from that area.  When I stopped I decided I could take on any thing and ran back to where it was.  I must have scared it because what ever IT was left the area when I Oden returned

Tuesday May 15
I woke up early this morning, about before the sun came up, (5:45), but I had to get outside really fast.  Jim took me out and I did all I had to do in 5 minutes of less.  Then we went back in.
Jim had to go somewhere, I really don’t know where somewhere is but I know he goes there almost every time he leaves,  “Oden, I have to go somewhere”, he says to me.
When he came back we went outside and walked round a little and then got into the truck.  Here I go again.  Yepee, huraaaa, super dupper, finally,  I did not get sick.  In fact I didn’t even come close.  I felt great the whole time.  We went to the paddock, (now I know what it is, a big area of nothing).  We stopped and visited Ann and everyone in her office.  We stopped at Skip Barber Racing School to return some things to Ernie.  Then we went up to the main office to visit every one.  I stopped at the front desk to do my first visit.  While I was getting petted I heard a voice come in the door.  It was my friend Gill, she picked me up and we went back to her office where I got to sit on her lap and get scratched and petted for about 6 hours, (5 minutes).  Then I went to visit my friend Jim in his office but he wouldn’t share his lunch with me?  I went to Ardelle’s office but she wasn’t there so we headed for the door, first I had to stop and say hi to Conner then head for the door.  We sure headed for the door a lot without getting there. One the way I saw Ardelle so I stopped and got some pets and hugs, I really like scratches pets and hugs.  We drove home but on the way we stopped to see my friend Dulee.  He has some great toys.  I played with them while Dulee just sat and watched.  Once in dog language, humans don’t understand that, he told me I should slow down, to watch the world go by.  OK I will.  Next time I visit Dulee I’ll have to ask him what slow down and world are.  Then we came home.
When I’m at home I like to see out.  To do that I have to get up on something, (don’t forget I’m only 6” tall and a whopping 10 lbs), like the couch, the table or the bed.  Jim doesn’t mind the couch or the bed but doesn’t like me on the table.  It might be because there is not only a window but good chewing stuff, you know wires and things like that.  Well he went and put up some kind of barriers so I can’t get on the table.  Oh well it’s temporary, I’m sure I can find a way up there, then the wires are all mine.
Wednesday May 16
New discovery and it is a BIG ONE.  There is something hanging off my back.  I have chased all morning and only caught it once.  It makes me dizzy when I chase it and the one time I caught it hurt.  Jim keeps calling it a tail, but I’m not sure.  It makes me a little uncomfortable having that thing behind me.  I think I’ll try sneaking up on it.  That didn’t work.  I can’t figure out how it stays just out of reach most of the time and it’s as fast as I am.
This evening Jim and I went for our usual walk, down the stairs by Dulee’s home.  While walking on the road below us I met another dog.  I don’t know what his name is but he was not attached to any thing and he was mean to me.  Jim was not very happy.  Some one called it but it didn’t go so they had to come over and get that mean dog.  When he was gone holly bee gee bers another dog appears not attached to anything.  This one was only a pup but he kept chewing on my ear.  We played for a while then he went inside also.  Thanks goodness, my ear was getting sore.
Jim says there is another big race weekend coming up so I think I’m excited.  I better go to bed and get ready.  You know there is a difference between sleeping and going to bed.  When I sleep I’m ready at the littlest noise to get up.  When I go to bed its for 7 to 9 hours and I don’t move fast when I get up. I am a puppy and need my beauty sleep.
Friday May 18
I was rudely woken up by that buzzing noise.  If I can ever figure out what makes that noise me and my teeth will do what we can to prevent that from happening any more.  Jim turned it off but since I was so harshly woken up I decided it was time to play and go outside.  I bothered Jim until he took me out and I didn’t hurry when I got there.  I must have kept him out there for a good 10 hours, (20 minutes).  Back in we finally went, of course my decision.
There were a lot of loud cars out on the track today.  The noise didn’t really bother me.  I was still able to sleep and chew, what else is there other than eat.  There was one car that sounded different than any other one I had heard.  It had more of a winey noise and sound really fast.  When Jim got home I asked him what is was and he said it was a 2003 F-1 car. I said ok thanks.  Ha, Ha, Ha I fooled you on the last one, every one knows people can’t speak dog.
Monday May 21
Wow, I’ve been at Jim’s a month, can you believe it a whole month.  Time to celebrate, yaaaaaaaa hooooooooo.  I’m really glad Jim brought me here I hope I get to stay for 100 years.  Here are the questions though, what is a month and how long is 100 years? I don’t know the answer to either but they sounded good.  By the way I am now 9 months old.  I’m still a puppy and can get away with stuff.  (Actually I think I’ll be able to fool Jim forever into thinking I’m a puppy so I can continue to get away with stuff.  Remember, I’ve already established, he’s easy.)
I started training Jim on a couple of things last week and so far results are 50 50.  When he want’s me to come in I either don’t pay attention to him or I look right at him with my best aren’t I cute look or sit and lean back with my best stubborn look.  There are two that work most of the time, don’t pay attention or cute look.  The stubborn look doesn’t seem to work at all he just goes inside and shuts the door.  After about 3 hours he opens it and I run in.  I’ll keep perfecting the first two.
The second thing I’ve been trying is not taking a treat because I want a different one.  Well that doesn’t work at all.  The treat just gets droppend on the floor.  The good thing is I get to have fun picking it up.  First I sniff then jump back, then jump up then jump around.  Finally I pick it up and either hide it or eat it.
I got cheese today.  Jim gave me CHEESE.  Wooooooooooow it was good.  He is just a good master giving me cheese because he could.
What is that thing you are putting down my throat?  Oh well I may as well swallow it.  Jim said something about fleas, heartworm and other things.  Ooooooooh, cheese again.  I’m telling you Jim is just plain nice to me.
Wednesday May 23
Another great morning.  I got some cheese again and some kind of pill again.  I’m beginning to think cheese is good but something not so good is coming after.  Doesn’t matter the cheese is still good.  Jim said it was supposed to make me feel ok when I ride in the truck.  I hope so because I really like riding around with Jim.
Here we go, the truck door is open, I’m going to jump in on my own.  10 steps back, run forward as fast as I can, front paws hit the inside floor, back the running board and push.  I made it with a little help from Jim.  Ok let’s get this truck on the road. Wow neat saying for a dog wonder where I got that.  I got up on the center console and sat.  I can see the road so I think it’s going to be ok.  There is a lot of liquid coming out of my mouth.  Jim says I’m drooling but it is ok.  I made it all the way to the vets office, everything stayed in my stomach.  Celebration time, come on.  I heard that somewhere and this is a good time for celebration.
We went into  room where a lady took my temperature, that is NOT very pleasant.  She said I was normal.  Of course I’m not normal, I’m Oden, there is nothing normal about me.  The vet came in, (that’s what we dogs call our doctor,a vet, not to be confused with someone who served in the military).  She looked at me and said she remembered me from last time I was here.  She looked at my teeth and said I had one baby tooth still in but it would be ok for now.
Then I went over and had a bath, got my nails trimmed and hair around my eyes trimmed.  It felt good. What I don’t know is where Jim went.  He was gone for 20 hours, he’ll change that to some random number he picks, (2 hours), told ya!
After that we went to the County Animal Shelter, the place Jim found me.  We took a plant for the ladies who helped us get together.  It was nice to say hi again and then leave.  It was mostly nice to leave, that place scares me a little.  Then we rode home.  I didn’t throw up one time.  Wa, wa, wa hoooooooooooo!

Sunday May 13
It’s been a week since I have anything to say.  The reason it’s been a week is, I don’t know, I don’t even know what a week is.
I heard it’s Mothers day, Happy Mothers Day everyone, and Happy Mothers Day to my mom, where ever she is.
Last week I went to the office and met Gill.  She is a very nice lady and I like her a lot, she is one of my friends.  She said I should have some kind of card so I have it.  I only ware it when I have on my harness, (something else new I have), so it won’t drag on the ground.  My friend Wendy said I still can’t go in the paddock with it.  (i’ve heard that word before but I don’t know where.) Nuts I can’t go in the paddock, I want to go in the paddock because there might be something good to sniff or eat there.  There is one thing about the paddock, what is it and where is it?  Soooo many thing I don’t know yet.
This week has been exciting, more new things.  Jim was saying a major race is coming Oden.  He said he hoped the noise from the ALMS cars wouldn’t bother me.  It didn’t.  The worse thing was I had to spend time in the trailer by myself.  The only reason I know that is I was able to shred more paper than usual.  Jim would come up and check sometimes but by best friend Ardelle, she is Bert’s mom, came up and walked me and sometimes I would sneak into her office and hang out.  Other than chewing and sleeping, hanging out is one of the things I really like to do, and I’m very good at it.  One day Bobbie came with her and we went for a long walk.  I was sooo happy I didn’t even make them pick me up, I tufted it out.
I said before I would tell you about my friends.  My friends are the best.  I like to be around them, they say my name and give me pets, scratch my ears, and let me sit on their lap.  My friends are everyone I meet. I like everybody and their hands.  I have a saying “I never met a pair of hands I didn’t like”, (pretty good for a 8 month old dog huh?) I hope I don’t forget anyone. I met some new friends a few days ago, Einstein, Sassy and her brother whose name I can’t remember.  Einstein is the master of Bill and Doff and Sassy and her brother keep Manny and Jean in line.

Monday, May 14

We slept in today all the way to 6:45.  Of course I didn’t get up until 5 hours later (15 minutes).  Then we went outside and I did nothing.  I was able to keep Jim out for 20 minutes.  I believe thats a record.  Well we finally came in for about 6 hours, (25 minutes) and I convinced Jim I needed to go out.  Out we went and I finally did some of my business, but decided to hold off on the other.  Finally went in for however long, (I’m not putting a time because Jim keeps changing it, I’m a dog I don’t know anything about time, except when its time.  This time I finished everything and we came in.  Then I decided to go out again so I made Jim crazy until he took me out, then in, then out, then in, then out, then in.  Of course every time Jim wanted me to go in I sat and refused to go in so Jim had to pick me up.  It was great fun and I got a treat every time.  Jim said something about putting me in a penalty box.  I guess he didn’t do it because I haven’t been in any thing; yet.

Tuesday May 1, 2012
I don’t think I will ever get tired making Jim walk around where I want to go.  It is especially fun first thing in the morning before he has his coffee.  I really have to do my business after a long nights sleep, but it is a lot more fun to watch Jim walk around,in a daze, following me.  I think 15 minutes was the longest I’ve make him stay out.  One of my tricks is to do one thing and when he wants to go in I sit and look at him with sad pleading eyes.  Works every time, back walking we go.
Sunday May 6, 2012
Wow I’m slipping, it’s been a few days since I written anything.  Jim’s been real busy pressure washing the suite/garage building, what ever they are.  He’s really tired when he gets home.  I do my best to make him feel better.  I make him walk me around for a while then when we get inside I jump on him and look right in his eyes and nip at his nose.  He laughs and hugs me so I guess I’ve done my job.
I did get a little board while he was gone for so long so I found one of his sweatshirts the other day and chewed the zipper.  It was a lot of fun, until Jim got home.  He was really not happy with me.  He staid mad ant me for almost 5 minutes, at least that’s what he said.  (I have no idea how long 5 minutes is).  I had to really put on my best face and jump up and sit beside him stuff.  As usual it worked.  I guess I better not chew any clothes again.
Jim is really a good guy, but he’s easy.
This evening Jim and I went for a ride in the dreaded truck.  (that’s the truck in the back ground, only picture of the truck I could find) I really want to ride and be good but my stomach doesn’t.  I tried to jump in the truck, that didn’t work, but Jim helped me in.  He said we were going to the paddock.  Jim rolled down the window on my side of the truck so I could put my front legs up on the arm rest and stick my nose out the window.  Geez o pete, It worked.  My stomach didn’t get goofy and I felt good when we got down there.  Coming back he did the same thing and it worked again.  Maybe I can lick this riding thing.  I should be able to I lick every thing and everyone else.  When we got back we went walking and I was sooooo happy about riding in the truck I did my business as fast as I could.  Then we just sat outside and watched the world go by.  I should say Jim watched I sniffed everything and chewed on my toy.  The world is really too high for me to see it go by.
